Concert Closing Chopin Year celebrations in Denmark

On November 9, 2010, the gala concert formally closing Chopin Year celebrations in Denmark took place in Copenhagen in the Royal Apartments of the Christiansborg Palace (seat of the Prime Minister and the Danish Parliament) on the invitation of Queen Margrethe II.

The most important members of the royal family were present at the gala concert: Queen Margrethe II, Prince Henrik of Denmark, Mary - the Crown Princess of Denmark – wife of the Crown Prince Frederik heir to the throne, representatives of the Royal Court, Danish Minister of Foreign Affairs Lene Espersen, Ambassadors accredited in Denmark and representatives of the most important Danish institutions of music. It was the first event in 8 years organised by the Danish Royal Court in cooperation with the embassy of a foreign country in Denmark.  
Guests appreciated the great concert performed by Krzysztof Jabłoński (piano) and Tomasz Strahl (cello) dedicated only to Fryderyk Chopin's compositions. The gala event was exceptionally formal due to the presence of among others Royal Guard.  
The Major Domo in his speech explained the context of the event, that is the 200th anniversary of Fryderyk Chopin's birth and the honorary patronage of Prince Henrik over the Chopin events in Denmark. He also underlined the participation of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in organization of the event which gathered the audience of 250 spectators. The concert concluded with reception organized by the Royal Court.  

In the framework of the Chopin Year the Embassy of the republic of Poland in Copenhagen organised or co-organised the following events:

5.02.2010 – gala concert opening the Chopin Year in Denmark, performed by professor Andrzej Jasiński and Beata Bilińska in the concert hall of the Glyptoteket Museum in Copenhagen, with the presence of Prince Henrik of Denmark, diplomatic corps and especially invited guests.

Spring and autumn 2010 – Cycle of concerts "Chopin på Hofteatret" (Chopin in the Royal Court Theatre), Copenhagen. In the framework of the cycle four double concerts took place, performed by Polish and Danish artists: 
– piano recital by Beata Bilińska (7.02)
– Chopin Salon with participation of the most important Danish actors Ditte Gråbøl and Morten Kirkskov and pianists Niklas Sivelov and Anne Marie Lipsonen (21.03)
– piano recital by Joanna Ławrynowicz (10.05)
– songs concert performed by Magdalena Witczak (soprano) and Tomasz Jocz (piano) (17.10)

4.02.2010 – Piano concert by Beata Bilińska with symphony orchestra Sønderjylland Symfoniorkester conducted by Tomasz Bugaj, Sønderborg. 

7.09.2010 - Concert in the Royal Conservatory of Music performed by the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra in Katowice conducted by Jacek Kasprzyk with participation of the pianist Philippe Giusiano who came to Copenhagen on the Polish flag ship "Dar Młodzieży". 

02-03.2010 - Master courses:

– Beata Bilińska, Sønderborg (3.02)

2-15.03.2010 – CHOPIN@200 – pianist marathon and a series of concerts performed by students and pedagogues of the Royal Conservatory of Music in Copenhagen and the Academy of Music in Aarhus. 

21.02.2010 - "Chopin in Cinemateket": Documentary film titled "Chopin’s Heart", director M. Marzyński, and excerpts of the concert recordings and the lecture about the composer in the Danish Film Institute.

Chart exhibition about Fryderyk Chopin accompanying many concerts and presentations among others in the Royal Conservatory of Music, Royal Court Theatre Hofteatret, and the concert hall Tivoli.

Internet website showing the events related to the Chopin Year in Denmark and in Poland:

12.2010 – A book about Fryderyk Chopin titled "Drømmelandet – en bog om Chopin" will be published, it is the first book about the composer in the Danish language. the book has many pictures, it represents the historical background, his life, works and how the composer is received in Denmark. The authors are: Eva Maria Jensen and Knud Ketting.
