Until May 16, 2011, candidates can apply to participate in the All-Poland Competition of Knowledge about Fryderyk Chopin. The competition is organized by the Polish National Fryderyk Chopin Institute for young adults up to 17 years old.

Both parts of the competition, written and spoken, take place on May 27, 2011 in Warsaw. The organizers' goal is to spread the knowledge about Fryderyk Chopin among young adults and promoting his image as "a person who was talented in many other domains apart from music, that is Fryderyk as a comedian, painter, writer and a linguist".

Moreover, it is an opportunity to verify the Chopin Year yield and checking how much young adults know about celebrations of the Jubilee Year. At the same time it is an incentive for teachers to use the lesson plans concerning Fryderyk Chopin.

To participate in the competition, the candidate has to be up to 17 years old, and to register on the website before May 16, 2011. The competition is divided into two parts, written and spoken.

The final stage takes place in the Concert Hall of the Fryderyk Chopin Museum with the participation of audience. The jury is made of famous experts of Fryderyk Chopin life and work.


  • I prize – PLN 3000 
  • II prize – PLN 2000
  • III prize – PLN 1000 

Moreover, all finalists will receive the following distinctions: 

  • Free of charge visit to the Fryderyk Chopin Museum
  • Full CD set "The Real Chopin" published by the Polish National Fryderyk Chopin Institute
  • A set of the National Edition of the Works of Fryderyk Chopin
  • A set of book publications by the Polish National Fryderyk Chopin Institute

After gala awards, Chopin recital takes place.
