Preparations are under way to unveil in Żelazowa Wola a monument of Fryderyk Chopin by Józek Nowak, artist living in Bavaria.

A wooden sculpture is 2 metres high and represents the standing Composer. Based on this original, a bronze cast copy was made. It was unveiled on October 18, 2010, in the Munich Poets' Park by the Odeonsplatz. The sponsors of the monument in Poland are Halina and Mirosław Pieńkowscy

The gala ceremony in Żelazowa Wola is planned for Sunday, February 20, at 12.00. Two days earlier the monument comes from Germany and it is fitted in the Etude Building. The gala ceremony participants are among others: Kazimierz Monkiewicz, director of the Polish National Fryderyk Chopin Institute, Waldemar Dąbrowski, plenipotentiary of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage for the Chopin Year and the Chair of the Chopin 2010 Celebrations Office, sponsors of the monument and the invited guests.

The ceremony is accompanied by the piano recital by Marek Bracha, participant of this year's 16th International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition held in Warsaw. After the cocktail the guests will have the opportunity to watch the film "Chopin's Poland" (pl. "Polska Chopina") in the Etude Room.
