"Spain in homage to Chopin"

"Spain in Homage to Chopin" is the title of two December cultural events dedicated to Chopin which will take place in the Cervantes Institute in Warsaw, Poland.

The programme of the meeting of December 9, covers three events. At 6.30 pm. in the seat of the Cervantes Institute at the 22 Nowogrodzka Street Justo Romero, Spanish musician and music critic will deliver a lecture titled "Chopin and Falla. Influence and Inspiration" (pl. "Chopin i Falla. Wpływy i inspiracje"). The lecture focuses on the relation between the work of those two composers who are characterised by simultaneous strong attachment to national and universal values. Next, at 7.15 pm. a vernissage of works by young artists from the Balearic Islands inspired by the score of the Piano Concerto in E minor Op. 11 by Fryderyk Chopin takes place. The organizers plan to conclude the evening with a documentary film by Alix François Meier titled "Valldemossa, one of the most beautiful places in the world" (sp. "Valldemosa, el lugar más hermoso del mundo"). The film lasts 52 minutes, it tells the story about the Valldemossa village on Majorca. The documentary features the island's inhabitants both present and living at times of Chopin and George Sand's visit.

On December 11, at 6.00 pm. at the Royal Castle in Warsaw a piano recital by Javier Perianes takes place. At the first part of the concert the outstanding Spanish pianist will perform compositions by Fryderyk Chopin, in the other part – by Manuel de Falla.
