Chopin in the Polski Theatre

The Polski Theatre (Teatr Polski) in Warsaw would like to invite everybody to Chopin events. Already on December 9, Włodzimierz Nahorny Sextet presents the project titled "Chopin genius loci."

In "Genius loci" the piano parts by Nahorny are interlaced with jazz improvisations by accompanying him musicians: Dorota Miśkiewicz, Henryk Gembalski, Wojciech Staroniewicz, Mateusz Bogdanowicz and Piotr Biskupski. Musicians construct their messages on the basis of Polish composers' works such as: Fantasy on the Polish Airs, preludes and mazurkas by Fryderyk Chopin, mazurkas by Roman Maciejewski, myths and mazurkas by Karol Szymanowski and songs and the violin Concerto in A major by Mieczysław Karłowicz. The sale of the CD with recorded project has just been launched in music shops.

On December 16, an evening titled "Fryderyk Chopin and George Sand" takes place. Only 23 letters by Chopin and 9 letters by George Sand survived to this day from the rich mail correspondence between Chopin and George Sand estimated at about 400. Silence, understatements, gaps in the description of events and feelings complicate the possibility of creating a suggestive image of relationship between those two people. That is why among the letters read out by the actress of the Teatr Polski, Małgorzata Lipmann and by Andrzej Seweryn there will also be excerpts of letters addressed to third parties where authors describe one another. Artists are accompanied by Włodzimierz Nahorny at the piano.

The last lyrics and music spectacle titled "Norwid about Chopin" (pl. "Norwid o Chopinie") is planned for December 18. Actors from the Polski Theatre: Grażyna Barszczewska, Marta Dąbrowska, Katarzyna Kołeczek, Paweł Koślik, Maksymilian Rogacki and Andrzej Seweryn will read for the audience excerpts of Cyprian Kamil Norwid's poetry. Włodzimierz Pawlik will accompany them at the piano.
