14th Book Fair in Krakow

During 4th to 7th of November at the all-Poland’s fair visitors will have the opportunity to meet authors of books about Fryderyk Chopin.

An hour spent reading is one stolen from paradise. Thomas Wharton.

All-Poland’s book festival is an exceptional opportunity to meet publishing houses and authors, to discuss, participate in the workshops and interesting events.

On November 5, at 12.00 the youngest Fryderyk Chopin lovers could meet Lidia Kućmierz and Katarzyna Bruzda, authors of the book for children titled Frycek Opowiada. This is a tale by young Fryderyk, with colourful pictures, for children in kindergartens and young pupils in primary schools. The CD accompanying the book contains audiobook read by a pupil, where every new chapter is illustrated with composition by Fryderyk Chopin.

On Saturday, at 14.00, the author of the album Chopin, professor Mieczysław Tomaszewski, an outstanding Polish musicologist and Chopin expert, talked about his work on the publication. The album has been prepared by the Bosz Publishing House and the PWM Edition (pl. Polskie Wydawnictwo Muzyczne SA) for the Chopin Year. The book is dedicated to Fryderyk Chopin’s talent lovers, and also for those who would like to learn more about the Composer’s biography and about the times he lived in. The text is complemented by numerous illustrations, containing both reproductions and archive and modern photographs showing places related to Chopin’s life. The meeting with the author was accompanied by an exhibition of photographs from the book.

Fryderyk Chopin music lovers could listen to his compositions performed by Bartłomiej Kominek everyday from 13.00 to 15.00.

For more information about the event and the detailed programme go to 14th Krakow Book Fair.
