A pedestrian crossing in Warsaw’s Emili Plater street looks a bit different than usual.
The idea came from designers Helena Czernek and Klara Jankiewicz, who took part in the competition for Chopin associated gadgets promoting Warsaw, which was held in 2008 by Warsaw’s town hall, the Industrial Design Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and the Foundation “Bęc Zmiana”.
The project has been carried out only now due to road safety considerations, which made it necessary to consult the Ministry of Infrastructure and other competent bodies.
Similar crossings are planned in 7 other locations across the Polish capital:
1. The Warsaw Philharmonic Hall – Sienkiewicza St./ Jasna St.
2. The Fryderyk Chopin Museum – Świętokrzyska St./ Nowy Świat St.
3. The Fryderyk Chopin Institute – Tamka St./ Kopernika St.
4. The Palace of Culture and Science – Emilii Plater St. (the southern and northern crossing)
5. The Library of the University of Warsaw – Dobra St./ Lipowa St. and Gęsta St./ Dobra St.
6. The surroundings of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music – Okólnik St./ Ordynacka St.
7. Fryderyk Chopin’s former apartment – Traugutta St./ Czackiego St.
