An exhibition of posters drawing inspiration from Chopin’s music is running from September 6th to 30th in Warsaw.
The exhibition showcases 50 reprints of archive posters selected by Maria Kurpik, curator of the Wilanów Poster Museum in Warsaw. The oldest posters date back to 1915, the newest were created this year. The artists featured include Stasys Eidrigevičius, Eryk Lipiński, Lech Majewski, Rafał Olbiński, Andrzej Pągowski, Waldemar Świerzy, Henryk Tomaszewski, Tadeusz Trepkowski and foreign artists.
The collection is a product of joint endeavours by the Wilanów Poster Museum, the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in Warsaw and the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw.
The exhibition will be displayed at the headquarters of the Mazowieckie Province Governor (Mazowieckim Urzędzie Wojewódzkim) in Warsaw, at 3/5 Bankowy Square (Room No. 131). The launch will take place on September 6th, at 10:45 a.m. The accompanying press conference, will be followed at 11.45 a.m. by the showing of the film Mazowsze Chopina (Chopin’s Mazovia) at the Museum of Independence at 62 Solidarności Avenue.
“Illustrated with Chopin’s music, the film showcases the area covering the city of Warsaw, the towns of Płock, Sochaczew and Milanówek, as well as the municipalities of Sochaczew, Brochów, Iłów, Kampinos, Młodzieszyn, Sanniki and Rościszewo, where the film’s producers have managed to find landscapes resembling those of young Fryderyk’s times,” said the organisers.
The conference will also serve as an opportunity to see the Chopin. His times and land: Mazovia exhibition displayed at the Museum of Independence.
